On December 2 at the Museum of the Bible, Turning Point Productions presented the Christmastime premiere of its new docudrama, “Why the Nativity?”
The gala event featured a discussion by Dr. Jeremiah of his vision for the production, with additional comments and insight from executive producers David Michael Jeremiah and Paul Joiner. David Michael Jeremiah interviewed Joiner, who wrote and directed the film, and actors Rose Anaya (Mary) and Logan Polson (Joseph) about their experiences making the movie.
Joiner commented that his hope was that each viewer could relate to one character in the story. Polson gave a moving testimony of God’s love and grace in his own life.
On the spiritual resonance of the Christmas story, Dr. Jeremiah shared that “God says when he created us, he created us with an empty place that belongs to him alone, and when you try to put other things in there, it doesn’t work. But the story of the coming of Jesus is right at home in your heart.”
The film is free to all to watch—and there is no worthier investment, in Dr. Jeremiah’s eyes.
“If you want to invest in what God cares about, invest in the story of his Son and you are sure not to be disappointed,” Dr. Jeremiah shared. “There are a lot of things you can invest in these days, but I can’t think of anything more exciting or promising, more fulfilling, than investing in the story of the birth of the Son of God, the Savior of the world.”
NRB members Dr. John Ankerberg and Darlene Ankerberg, Stu and Julie Epperson, and Greg Fast and his son Royce who worked on the project, as well as NRB staff Dr. Linda Smith and Chuck Smith attended the unforgettable screening of this soon-to-be Christmas classic.
As Dr. Jeremiah has shared previously, “From its inception, this unique production has been designed to be shared with the whole world, for everyone from all walks of life. . . We pray it becomes an instant Christmas classic with the longevity to reach new audiences with the timeless Gospel message for generations to come.”
