The voice of veterans.

The voice of veterans.

Veterans Ministry Initiative is a Christian outreach network organized by the National Religious Broadcasters association (NRB) dedicated to bridging the gap between veterans and the church. We help inspire congregations to establish veterans’ ministry programs and equip them with the resources to minister effectively to veterans.

The initiative connects churches to a network of trusted partners with proven models to build strong, Christ-centered veterans outreach programs. We provide access to faith-based tools, discipleship resources, and communication strategies designed specifically for engaging veterans. Our goal is to see churches not only welcome veterans but walk with them toward healing, purpose, and renewed faith — growing steadily from pilot programs to regional and national impact.

Mission

To inspire and equip churches to launch vibrant veteran ministry programs that welcome all veterans into a community of faith, purpose, and service.

To guide veterans as they transition from serving Christ and country in military life to thriving in civilian life, fostering spiritual growth, healing, and fellowship.

Vision

To see every church in America equipped with a thriving veterans’ ministry that transforms lives, strengthens communities, and glorifies God by empowering veterans to live out their faith.

What We Do

We connect churches with the tools, support, and expertise they need to minister effectively to veterans, ensuring these men and women find a home in the body of Christ where their unique experiences are honored and their calling is renewed.

Start now, ministry or not.

Individuals, churches, and organizations can express their interest in joining the initiative without yet having their own veterans ministry or program in place. Simply complete the interest form, and our team will be in touch with next steps.

FAQs

Why veterans?

The need among veterans is urgent. Most face significant challenges after service, including isolation, loss of identity, and a diminished sense of purpose.

The local church is uniquely positioned to provide the community, spiritual guidance, and hope veterans need. VMI exists to equip churches to meet this moment and serve those who have served our nation.

Why NRB?

NRB’s mission is to advance Christian communication and strengthen the witness of the church. Through the Veterans Ministry Initiative, NRB mobilizes its network of Christian communicators, ministries, and churches to raise awareness, foster collaboration, and help more veterans find community and hope in Christ.

What sets VMI apart?

NRB’s Veterans Ministry Initiative is focused on connecting veterans with the local church.

Rather than creating another standalone program, we are building a network that equips churches with the partnerships and support needed to develop meaningful, Christ-centered veterans ministries.
