NRB President & CEO Endorses Commissioner Brendan Carr for FCC Chairman

NRB | November 15, 2024 | Advocacy

The president & CEO of the leading trade association for Christian communicators has announced his full endorsement of Commissioner Brendan Carr for FCC Chairman.

“In order to ensure that the next four years of policy-setting are as impactful as possible for our industry, the choice is clear,” said NRB president & CEO Troy A. Miller. “Brendan Carr’s pro-business, pro-speech leadership will tremendously benefit America’s small, independent, and religious broadcasters and the hundreds of millions of listeners and viewers they serve. To that end, I would strongly support President-elect Donald J. Trump in designating Commissioner Brendan Carr as the next Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.”

Carr has consistently advocated against heavy-handed regulatory schemes, from net neutrality rules to unnecessary reporting obligations on broadcast license holders. Carr has comprehensively supported policies that allow smaller, independent, and religious broadcasters to conduct their business without burdensome government interference. Carr has also offered his support to low-power television (LPTV), criticizing the FCC’s efforts to increase regulation on LPTV station owners and operators, which Carr said “fundamentally disrupts the bargain that was made” to significantly limit regulation so that LPTV operators can serve local viewers. Carr is also a leading voice urging accountability for wasteful government programs, taking particular aim at unstrategic and ineffectual federal broadband deployment schemes that have failed to deliver any benefit at tremendous taxpayer expense.

Carr has expressed his support for religious broadcasters, describing NRB as “a tremendous asset to the American public.”

The NRB looks forward to continued robust engagement in all branches of government to ensure a favorable business environment for Christian broadcasters.
