WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: NRB Members Respond to Hurricane Idalia

On August 30, Hurricane Idalia made landfall on the Florida Big Bend region, unleashing winds reaching a velocity of 125mph and an intensive deluge of rainfall. This catastrophic meteorological event, classified as a Category 3 storm, resulted in a substantial power outage that impacted tens of thousands of residents in Florida.

NRB members have released statements in response to the storm’s devastation.

FRANKLIN GRAHAM: “Pray for all those in the path of Hurricane Idalia. Many people haven’t recovered from last year’s Hurricane Ian and are facing another destructive storm.”

TONY PERKINS: “Hurricane Idalia has made landfall in Florida’s Gulf Coast with catastrophic winds and deadly storm surges. As the destruction and needs unfold, pray for everyone in the path of Idalia and pray for the first responders, law enforcement, and everyone who will give aid.”

PROCLAIMING JUSTICE TO THE NATIONS: “We are calling on all PJTN watchmen to be in prayer for the people in Florida affected by Hurricane Idalia. Many of PJTN’s supporters & partners are in Florida and will be affected by Hurricane Idalia. God bless you all & thank you for all you do.”

GALCOM USA: “Please pray for Idalia to diminish in intensity before making landfall and for Floridians living in the storm’s path.”

FOOD FOR THE POOR: “Please join us in prayer for those affected by Hurricane Idalia.”

NRB members are also currently on the ground in Florida providing relief to affected communities.

Operation Blessing

Responding on location in Valdosta, Georgia, CBN’s Operation Blessing disaster relief team is actively evaluating the requirements of residents in both Florida and Georgia during the storm’s passage. This assessment is being conducted with a well-prepared staff, prepositioned relief supplies, and specialized equipment.

Samaritan’s Purse

The Samaritan’s Purse U.S. Disaster Relief team is coordinating with first responders, governmental authorities, and local churches to orchestrate a response strategy. Volunteer staff stand ready to help members of the community clear debris, perform repairs, and remove hazards.

Chaplains from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Rapid Response Team are also onsite to provide spiritual support to residents residing along the Florida Gulf Coast.
