Following the tragic explosion in Beirut last month and amid the on-going refugee crisis in Lebanon, WAWZ/New York (STAR 99.1) rallied its listeners to reach more than 1,100 families with emergency supplies and the Gospel through the ministry of Heart for Lebanon.
The radio partnership coincided with the launch of STAR’s promotional theme of “Love God, Love People.”
“The recent tragedy in Lebanon has just intensified the need of the people there,” STAR Director of Programming Matt Stockman said in a report. “We’ve partnered with Heart for Lebanon for several years and were so glad to be able to give our listeners an immediate and practical way to love people in Lebanon who so desperately need our help.”
According to the report, Heart of Lebanon has mobilized staff and volunteers to help clean up the devastation caused the August 4 blast and provided temporary housing for displaced families in partnership with a local church and the largest Christian college in Beirut.
Every year, Heart for Lebanon conducts dozens of radio partnerships with Christian radio. The organization was founded in 2006 and seeks to create faith defining environments to serve under resourced families and children in the country of Lebanon. They currently serve nearly 2,500 families displaced by the Syrian war.
