On August 3-6, Podcast Movement hosted their annual conference in Nashville, Tennessee and were joined by NRB staff and friends including Spark Media.
Podcast Movement began in 2014 when four podcasters and entrepreneurs set out to create an event “for podcasters, by podcasters.” Since then, Podcast Movement has become the hub for podcasting news, resources, and thought leadership. Each summer, Podcast Movement has gathered thousands of podcasters and industry professionals to learn, grow professionally, and evolve and improve the podcast community.
This summer’s event was held in person at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville and as a virtual event with select sessions live-streamed for attendees and all of the session recordings available post-event.
Podcast Movement featured workshops, breakout sessions, panels, and keynote talks to provide podcasters with world class education. As podcasters and industry professionals gathered from around the world, podcasters had opportunities to network with the best in the field as well as to explore the expo floor to shop for new equipment, learn about different services, or connect with brands they already partner with.
“Visiting Podcast Movement helped me realize the incredible potential this part of media has in our world and culture today,” Carlton Capps, NRB’s event sales manager, said. “I made great relationships and talked about ways to be involved at NRB next March as we try to grow this segment of media.”
NRB friend and NRB 2021 attendee, Misty Phillip attended the conference and launched Spark Media’s premiere magazine there. Phillip is the founder of Spark Media where she encourages people to use their stories to give God glory through podcasting. This was Phillip’s first time attending the Podcast Movement conference, and her presence there was an encouragement to other Christian communicators.
“As I prayed and prepared for the event, I got the idea to create the magazine,” Phillip said. “I wanted a way to amplify the voice of Christian podcasting and immediately went to work creating the publication.”
At Podcast Movement, Phillip and her team hosted a large gathering of Christian podcasters, influencers, and friends of Spark to celebrate the launch of the magazine.
“It was an honor to attend the Spark Media magazine launch during the Podcast Movement convention,” Beth Wakefield, Director of Events at NRB, said. “Misty Phillip is doing an outstanding job connecting with and supporting Christian podcasters. I was very impressed with the release of the Spark Media Podcast Magazine that evening.”
Phillip was a part of NRB 2021 in June where she hosted the Spark Media Podcast Conference.
“Now more than ever, Christian communicators need to stand together united in mission and vision to encourage one another and to share the gospel with a lost and hurting world,” Phillip said.
During Phillip’s event at NRB 2021, podcasters were inspired by industry professionals to launch, grow, and monetize their podcasts while cultivating relationships with fellow podcasters and media professionals. These relationships that were formed or strengthened during NRB 2021 continued during the Podcast Movement conference.
“Some of the people I met at Spark Media’s magazine launch were very familiar with NRB and had even attended our conventions in the past,” Wakefield said. “It was great to make those connections and invite them to NRB 2022 in March. One was even a regular NRB attendee!”
Phillip plans to be a part of NRB 2022 in March to continue in her mission of connecting with and encouraging Christian podcasters for the glory of God.
