Please join the NRB family in praying for two members of the association’s board of directors, Lois Evans and Joni Eareckson Tada.
It was reported on April 2 that Evans’ last routine scan revealed that her rare gallbladder cancer has returned.
“We need God to intervene as we continue our search for an effective treatment. We are going to trust God in the dark for a solution, and we are asking you to fervently pray to that end,” reported Evans’ husband, Tony, who just days earlier was inducted into the NRB Hall of Fame.
“Even during these uncertain times, we are strengthened by the joy of the Lord. We know that we will be strengthened also by the prayers of the saints in the days to come,” he continued.
“I’m sure you have questions. This news is fresh and we don’t have many answers to give. We will keep you updated as we can. But as you wait — while we wait — we are asking for your prayers.”
On March 27, the ministry of Joni Eareckson Tada reported that she had been hospitalized for observation and medical oversight after being challenged with significant pain issues in the weeks following the completion of a series of radiation treatments for a recurrence of cancer.
“Knowing the truth of that promise of James 5:16, Joni and Ken would be most grateful for your prayers today,” reported the California-based ministry, Joni and Friends, referring to Tada and her husband. ”As they express confidence that God is in control, the support of prayerful concern would be deeply appreciated.”
In a more recent update, the ministry reported that the Tadas “thank everyone for their love and prayers.”
“Joni is getting much needed rest and wonderful care at the hospital,” it added.
Tada was originally scheduled to lead a hymn sing during the Worship Service at Proclaim 19, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Anaheim, California. The report of her hospitalization was announced the day before the Worship Service.
