NRB Today Receives Evangelical Press Association’s Award of Excellence for Fifth Straight Year

NRB | April 11, 2019 | NRB News

For the fifth consecutive year, NRB’s weekly e-newsletter, NRB Today, was recognized with the Evangelical Press Association’s (EPA) Award of Excellencein the “E-Newsletter (Digital)” category.

The EPA is the world’s largest professional organization for the evangelical periodical publishing industry, and hosts two annual contests:  the Awards of Excellence contest (for publications as a whole) and the Higher Goals contest (for individual pieces produced – reporting, photos, design, etc.).

The Awards of Excellence contest, which looks at the entire publication, honors overall excellence and is broken down by category, with awards offered in each category. Judges in each category evaluate a number of criteria, including writing quality, content choices, and design.

“The NRB Newsletter delivers straightforward news to its members,” stated the judge’s report for NRB Today. “The writing isn’t showy, but it also isn’t biased. This newsletter understands news. Concise, thorough, well‑edited, and eminently usable to its members. The design is simple and strong, befitting a serious news source.”

“Being recognized for excellence is gratifying; being recognized five years in a row is fantastic and demonstrates a pattern of excellence that is quite noteworthy,” said Troy Miller, NRB’s interim CEO. “I’m delighted that Evangelical Press Association has honored NRB in this way. A number of NRB staff members share this award, but Kenneth Chan deserves particular credit as the point man for NRB Today, our flagship publication that endeavors to serve our members well every week.”

Other recipients of an Award of Excellence include NRB members Liberty University for The Liberty Champion (in the Campus Digital publication category); ERLC for ERLC.com (in the Christian Ministry Digital category); Focus on the Family for Citizen (in the Christian Ministry Print category) and Brio Magazine (in the Youth Print category); Answers in Genesis for Answers Magazine (in the General Print category); Cru for Cru Storylines (in the Organizational Digital category); and The Voice of the Martyrs for its self-titled magazine (in the Organizational Print category).

Also honored with first-place Higher Goals awards for articles, designs, and photos featured in their respective publications last year were Focus on the Family, World Vision, In Touch Ministries, Answers in Genesis, LifeWay Christian Resources, and Cru. (Details here.)
