NRB President & CEO to Advocate on Capitol Hill for AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act

Bill has enough cosponsors for vote, eligible for floor consideration

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NRB) – Troy A. Miller, president & CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), will be on Capitol Hill this week advocating for the passage of the bipartisan AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act of 2025 (H.R. 979 and S. 315).

This bill aims to preserve AM radio—a critical platform used by more than 120 NRB members to broadcast messages of faith, freedom, and family to millions across the country.

“Whether it’s a media conglomerate deprioritizing religious programming or a car manufacturer deciding to remove the AM radio option from the dash, censorship today comes dressed in new clothes, but with familiar intent,” Miller wrote in Radio World. “Faith-based media isn’t asking for special treatment—just fair access.”

AM radio remains an essential, free, and neutral medium, providing Americans direct access to vital information and serving as the primary lifeline for emergency communications during crises.

“Radio’s free, ubiquitous signal puts community updates, civic dialogue, and the Gospel within easy reach for the everyday American, bridging economic and social divides newer media often miss,” Miller wrote in Radio Ink.

Following advocacy campaigns from the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and NRB, the bipartisan bill has a growing number of cosponsors, securing majority support in the House and surpassing the threshold needed for passage. The bill must now be approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee and then selected by House leadership for a floor vote.

NRB calls on Congress members to support this legislation and urges local communities and broadcasters to raise awareness about the importance of AM radio.
