NRB President & CEO Troy A. Miller delivered remarks at the 50th annual Storytellers Conference hosted by International Christian Visual Media (ICVM) from November 16-19, 2022.
In his remarks on Friday, November 18, Miller highlighted the importance of enriching, Christian storytelling in the film and TV industry.
“Visual media consumption is at an all-time high. The world needs your stories,” said Miller. “It needs to hear the truth explained and exclaimed in documentaries. It needs to see dramas that play out examples of godly, Biblical living. It needs stories of redemption, grace, mercy, and most of all, hope. It needs characters we can relate to, fall in love with, and even despise. Christians need to have their values and beliefs reinforced, enriched, and expanded. The world needs the light of your cinematography to shine bright.”
This year marked record attendance of the conference by filmmakers, distributors, investors, and other media professionals. The four-day event included a script and story pitch-a-thon; a special screening of new episodes of “The Chosen”; the Christian Film Market where eighteen distributors viewed ready-to-distribute films, series, and church programs; a sneak peek of Kingdom Story Company’s “Jesus Revolution”; and ICVM’s first-ever hosting of the Investors Lion’s Den, a Shark Tank-like Christian business development event.
During the 2022 Storytellers Conference, finalists were announced for the annual ICVM Crown Awards, which honors the best in Christian film and TV. Award recipients will be recognized at the ICVM Crown Awards gala hosted at the NRB 2023 International Christian Media Convention in Orlando, Florida, May 22-25, 2023.
