NRB member Turning Point’s “Why the Nativity?” has had a profound and far-reaching impact, inspiring millions of people from across the globe to reflect on the birth of Christ. Since its release in November 2022, the feature-length docudrama has been broadcasted in English over 450 times on 140 television outlets worldwide, including major networks such as Lifetime, History Channel, and A&E. With a potential viewing audience of over 8 million households during the month of December, the film has captivated audiences with its powerful and thought-provoking message.
“We never imagined the impact ‘Why the Nativity?’ would have on the world, but the reach of this film was so great only God can get the credit!” said Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point, in an impact report.
The Spanish language version of the film, “Por Qué la Natividad?,” has reached audiences in countries such as Argentina, Peru, and Mexico, amassing over 150,300 online streams. The film’s message has also spread far and wide online, with free access to the Gospel presentation available through “Why the Nativity?,” receiving over 17 million views from November 24 to December 31 on YouTube, TurningPoint+, and DavidJeremiah.org. The behind-the-scenes documentary, “The Message and Mission of Why the Nativity?,” alone registered an astounding 1,361,666 views.
In addition to the digital outreach, Turning Point has provided churches with the “Why the Nativity? Digital Church Resource Kit” at no cost, allowing them to organize watch parties and use the film as an evangelistic tool in their communities. In total, 4,280 churches across 52 countries used “Why the Nativity?” as their special Christmas event in 2022.
The outreach campaign even extended to a Christmas card campaign, which saw 103,665 people connect with Turning Point for the first time. As a result, Turning Point is now sending out its magazine and other Bible study outreach resources to these individuals.
The film’s global influence was truly widespread, resonating with viewers in various regions across the world, including India, Canada, and Scotland. On December 3, 2022, over 17,500 individuals in the UK requested tickets to view “Why the Nativity?” in 102 different cinemas. Additionally, Turning Point received an overwhelming response to its “Your Greatest Turning Point” campaign, with 91,000 requests pouring in since the promotion for “Why the Nativity?” first launched.
Looking ahead, Turning Point is planning for even greater outreach, including the release of the film in new translations. In 2023, “Why the Nativity?” will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Mandarin Chinese, and Arabic. The success of this evangelistic outreach is a testament to the power of God and the unwavering support both domestically and internationally for Turning Point.
