On Thursday, May 25, NRB members and friends of Christian broadcasting gathered at the 2023 Closing Gala to mark the conclusion of the 2023 NRB International Christian Media Convention and to honor the NRB Special Service Award recipients.
The gala featured keynote speaker Dr. Albert Mohler, Jr., who recalled NRB’s history and reminded the community of Christian broadcasters to stand firmly on the truth, no matter whether the threats to an uncompromising Christian message come from secular or religious voices.
“We’re living in a time not only of moral rebellion, we’re living in a time of extreme moral velocity and with social changes changing so fast, it’s hard to imagine the challenge we’re going to face tomorrow,” said Mohler. “So what does the world need, what do sinners need, what does this culture need? The preaching of the word of God. It needs biblical truth. It needs the broadcasting and communicating of the Gospel. It needs a church that does not shrink back even in the face of what’s coming.”
Mohler is the president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to his presidential duties, he hosts two programs: “The Briefing,” a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview, and “Thinking in Public,” a series of conversations with the day’s leading thinkers. Dr. Mohler has authored numerous books, his most recent being “Tell Me the Stories of Jesus: The Explosive Power of Jesus’ Parables.” He served as the General Editor of the Grace and Truth Study Bible and is the editor of WORLD Opinions, where he provides commentary on cultural and theological issues.
Musical group Point of Grace performed compelling and uplifting musical selections throughout the event. The Closing Gala also included the presentation of Special Service Awards. NRB Special Service Awards are presented to individuals and organizations who model excellence, integrity, and longstanding service in Christian communications.
