NRB Calls on Christians to Pray for Peace, Protection Amid Israel-Iran Tensions

NRB | June 26, 2025 | Advocacy

As we watch the tensions between Israel and Iran unfold, NRB urges Christians around the world to unite in prayer for peace, protection, and justice for all affected by the conflict. Our hearts are with innocent civilians, including countless believers who face danger, persecution, and uncertainty in this volatile moment.

While the ceasefire talks offer hope, the situation remains uncertain, underscoring the urgent need for continued prayer for peace and protection. Whether fighting escalates or pauses, the needs of innocent civilians, believers facing persecution, and the search for lasting peace remain constant.

NRB stands with Christians across the region and around the world—from the underground church in Iran to the Jewish communities in Israel—affirming the value of every human life and the right to freedom of conscience and expression. We call for moral clarity, spiritual unity, and compassionate action.

Voices from the NRB Community

Dr. Susan Michael, U.S. president of International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) and director of American Christian Leaders for Israel (ACLI), spoke on the grave security challenges faced by Israel:

“As a fragile ceasefire takes hold, we give thanks—but we remain sober-minded about the ongoing threats and hold fast to the promise of Scripture: ‘Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.’ (Psalm 121:4). Now is the time for moral clarity and spiritual unity. We pray for the people of Israel as they remain vigilant in the face of an unrelenting regime that seeks their destruction, and we also pray for the people of Iran who are oppressed by that same brutal regime.”

Yael Eckstein, president & CEO of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ), reflected on the spiritual dimension of the conflict:

“This is spiritual warfare. And if we don’t call it that, we risk forgetting what we are truly fighting—not only missiles and regimes, but the slow and deadly unraveling of the moral and spiritual foundation that holds back darkness.”

She encouraged believers to cling to Scripture, with the reminder that strength and peace are one: “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace” (Psalm 29:11). Eckstein continued:

“There are moments when pursuing peace means standing up with everything we have against the forces that destroy it. …We are shaping a future in which terror will no longer be exported across the world, in which fear will not govern free nations, and in which the eternal values that gave birth to our civilization will rise again in strength and clarity.”

From inside Iran, Dr. Hormoz Shariat, founder of Iran Alive Ministries and a leader in the flourishing underground church, recently shared a powerful message of hope and resilience with the NRB community in a member webinar. He urged the global church to pray for Iran:

“The Lord has prepared His bride, His church in Iran, to have a part in the history of Iran. …Even as bombs impact cities like Tehran, the Iranian church is being called to courage and service. …Christians are not afraid of persecution. They’re bold. They’re going out in the midst of bombs; they’re worshiping.”

Franklin Graham also encouraged prayer, saying:

“As the war between Iran and Israel continues, please pray for innocent people caught in the bombings and missile attacks. May God’s protection be on the churches and the Christians in Iran and may He protect the Jewish people. … My prayer is that the eyes of all who live in these countries will be opened to the truth of God’s Word.”

Prayer Prompts

NRB calls on Christians everywhere to intercede fervently during this historic and challenging time. Let us stand together in faith, seeking God’s mercy and peace for all people caught in this conflict.

  • Pray for protection and provision for innocent civilians on all sides, especially for the vulnerable church communities facing persecution and violence.
  • Pray for wisdom, restraint, and peace for leaders and decision-makers in Israel, Iran, and the international community.
  • Pray for spiritual discernment and moral clarity for U.S. leaders and policymakers as they navigate complex decisions and respond to unfolding events.
  • Pray for the spiritual awakening of hearts in Iran, Israel, and throughout the Middle East, that many may come to know the hope and freedom found in Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for courage, boldness, and unity among believers living amid conflict and persecution.
  • Pray for the ultimate triumph of God’s peace, justice, and righteousness in the region and around the world.
