At the 2023 NRB International Christian Media Convention, broadcasters and faith leaders will partake in a panel sharing their insights and firsthand experiences on the role of Christian media in responding to international crises. On Wednesday, May 24, an informative NRB Forum will explore the response of the Church to the challenges of war, natural disasters, and persecution around the world.
The panel will be moderated by MEDIAlliance International founder and president, Dr. Ron Harris. Harris began his broadcast career in 1966, and has worked professionally in radio, television, and church media, along with serving as a professor of communications at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Dallas Baptist University. An NRB member since 1981, Harris is a past Chairman of the NRB Board of Directors and will serve as Chairman of the NRB Board of Governors.
The forum will feature the following panelists:
- Ed Cannon, president & CEO of Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC). Ed Cannon is the Chairman of the Executive Committee for FEBC International. Cannon’s unique professional career includes leadership experience in both large ministry and corporate settings. Prior to FEBC, Cannon served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. During his eight and a half years at Moody, Cannon had oversight of broadcasting, publishing, the legal department, fundraising, and the operations of the Institute. Cannon serves on four boards, including the Board of Directors of NRB and Revive our Hearts.
- Lauren Libby, president & CEO of Trans World Radio. Libby formerly served with The Navigators ministry in Colorado, in various senior executive roles. Libby has been instrumental in helping to bring Christ to the nations and develop spiritual laborers for God’s kingdom. He speaks to numerous audiences and hosts a radio feature called “Get Hope,” heard on over 100 radio stations nationwide. He is chairman of the board of New Horizons Foundation and serves on the boards of Educational Communications of Colorado and the National Religious Broadcasters.
- Samuel Rodriguez, lead pastor of New Season and president & CEO of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC). Rodriguez is a best-selling author and movie producer. Major news networks and publications have recognized him as America’s most influential Hispanic faith leader. In 2013, TIME nominated him as one of the “100 most influential people in the world.” Having advised Presidents Bush, Obama, and Trump, Rodriguez also consults with members of Congress to advance life, religious liberty, and biblical justice initiatives. Rodriguez is the recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Award presented by the Congress of Racial Equality.
- K. P. Yohannan, founder and director of GFA World. GFA World is a Christian mission organization committed to seeing communities transformed through the love of Christ. GFA mobilizes thousands of national missionaries to minister in unreached communities in holistic ways, such as caring for poor children, slum dwellers and widows and orphans; providing clean water by funding wells; supporting medical missions; and meeting the needs of those in leprosy colonies. Through GFA’s child sponsorship program, children are being rescued from the generational curses of poverty and hopelessness. He is also the metropolitan bishop of Believers Eastern Church, an indigenous church in South Asia.
