WASHINGTON (NRB) – Vice President Mike Pence is confirmed to speak Tuesday, February 27, during Proclaim 18, the National Religious Broadcasters’ (NRB) 75th annual Convention, February 27-March 2 in Nashville, Tennessee, the association announced today.
“I’m delighted that Vice President Mike Pence is now confirmed to speak at our Convention this year,” said Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, president & CEO of NRB. “The Vice President is an outstanding public servant – one who has emphasized for years the importance of his Christian faith in his public service. As a former radio broadcaster, Vice President Pence knows NRB and we know him. We eagerly anticipate what he has to say to thousands of evangelical communicators.”
As a Congressman from Indiana, Pence was honored in 2009 with NRB’s prestigious Faith & Freedom Award. The association annually presents the award to a stalwart defender of religious liberty at its Capitol Hill Media Summit, the annual gathering of the NRB President’s Council in Washington, D.C.
Pence is scheduled to speak during the Super Session on February 27 that begins at 1 p.m.
Every year, the NRB International Christian Media Convention draws a wide range of participants, including radio and TV station owners and operators, pastors, church media professionals, radio and TV program producers, college educators, students, filmmakers, web and mobile developers, social media managers, book publishers and authors, marketing representatives, and ministry staff members.
In addition to the Vice President, speakers this year include ministry leaders Rick Warren, Greg Laurie, Kay Arthur, David Jeremiah, Luis Palau, and Billy Kim; actors Jim Caviezel, Dennis Quaid, Stephen Baldwin, and filmmaker Alex Kendrick; radio talk show hosts Larry Elder, Eric Metaxas, and Dennis Prager; thought leaders Phil Cooke, Ed Stetzer, and Joel C. Rosenberg; and many more. Twin brothers and entrepreneurs David and Jason Benham will emcee the Convention.
“Thousands come to our Convention each year to find connections, resources, and insights that will help them advance their mission, their organizations, and their careers,” said Johnson. “If you’re in the ministry of reaching people for Jesus Christ through media, this is a must-attend event.”
A highlight of the annual gathering is the bustling Exposition, the world’s largest marketplace dedicated to Christian media and ministry professionals seeking to harness the power of electronic media to spread the Gospel. Showcasing their products and services will be around 200 companies, ministries, and organizations, including broadcasters, nonprofits, educational institutions, publishers, media agencies, and broadcast equipment and software companies. Also on the Expo floor in 2018 will be Titanium Convention Sponsor Liberty Health Share and Platinum Sponsor Museum of the Bible, which returns this year with an exhibit showcasing images and video of its newly opened museum in Washington, D.C.
Other highlights include Super Sessions; industry sessions focused on church media, digital media, film, international ministry, radio, and TV; the Learning Arena; the industry networking reception; the CV 24-hour student production competitions; the film pitch-a-thon; the Special Israel Session celebrating the 70th anniversary of the modern state of Israel; musical performances by artists including Mercy Me, Fernando Ortega, and Michael W. Smith; presentation of NRB’s 2018 media awards; and film screenings. Among the films being screened at Proclaim 18 are I Can Only Imagine, One Nation Under God, Staines, God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness, Beautifully Broken, and Paul, Apostle of Christ.
Proclaim 18 will take place February 27-March 2 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, while NRB’s award-winning Exposition – featuring around 200 exhibitors – will be open February 28-March 2.
