Manassas, VA – The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) will receive the significant NRB Milestone Award during the February 21st Awards Dinner at the NRB 2012 Convention & Exposition.

“For 50 years, CBN has evangelized and discipled new believers through media and also involved the faithful in humanitarian aid and relief efforts,” said NRB President & CEO Dr. Frank Wright. “Through television and online video evangelism outreaches, as well as medical and disaster relief efforts, CBN has faithfully served as the hands and feet of Christ.”

Fifty years ago, Dr. M.G. “Pat” Robertson named his broadcasting organization—located in a defunct Portsmouth, Virginia TV station—The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). Not only was CBN the first Christian television station in Virginia, it was also the first in the nation. Today, CBN is one of the largest television ministries in the world with programs broadcasting to 136 countries. In the United States, CBN’s flagship program—The 700 Club—reaches an average daily audience of one million viewers. On the air continuously since 1966, The 700 Club is one of the longest-running programs in broadcast history.

Longevity in any field is becoming a rarity, and exemplary service in Christian broadcasting for 50 years—or more—is a feat worthy of recognition and applause. With the Milestone Award, NRB desires to honor the industry pioneers who brought Christian communications to the place of respect and achievement it enjoys today.
