Manassas, VA – Ron Hembree will receive the prestigious NRB William Ward Ayer Awardposthumously during the March 1st Banquet at the NRB Convention & Exposition.  His widow, Cathy, and son Rod will accept the award in his honor.

“Encourager, teacher, godly example, and friend – all these and more can be said of Ron Hembree,” said NRB President & CEO Dr. Frank Wright. “Loved and respected by many in the NRB, Ron's steady leadership and optimistic outlook will be sorely missed.”

Ron Hembree, founder of Good Friends, Inc. and President of Cornerstone TeleVision, Inc. went to be with the Lord June 10, 2010. Ron felt a call to media ministry at a young age. He was a prolific writer for a variety of outlets including articles, study material, and over 70 books. Ron’s passion was to call people to a daily study of God’s Word. He was responsible for establishing multi-generational Bible reading programs in easy-to-understand, bite-sized portions including the award-winning Quick Study program.

Pioneer broadcaster and pastor William Ward Ayer was NRB's first president. Instrumental in the formation of the Association, Ayer drafted the Code of Ethics that formed the basis of evangelical response to the radio networks' threat against religious broadcasting in the 1940s. This award is presented to an individual or organizational NRB member with excellence and integrity for outstanding and significant contributions to the field of Christian communications.
