Paul R. Hollinger to Receive the 2017 NRB William Ward Ayer Award for Distinguished Service

Paul HollingerWASHINGTON (NRB) – Paul R. Hollinger, D.Litt., will receive the 2017 NRB William Ward Ayer Award for Distinguished Service on Thursday, March 2, at Proclaim 17, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Orlando, Florida.

When Paul Hollinger joined WDAC-FM in 1961, he planned to only work there temporarily. However, that “temporary” job stretched to more than 50 years. Broadcasting became Hollinger’s life work and opened many doors of service for Christ in the community and beyond.

“This NRB Special Service Award is a great surprise,” said Hollinger. “Thank you for your grace and love. I pray the honor go to Jesus Christ who created the universe: to Jesus our Savior and to Christ our Messiah. I want to be His faithful servant and steward of the excellent award.”

In congratulating Hollinger, NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson said, “Paul is a longtime radio broadcaster who is passionate about his relationship with Jesus Christ and about sharing his testimony and the Word of Christ to those he encounters. We are honored to present this award to him, and also thankful for his past service on NRB’s Board of Directors.”

Pioneer broadcaster and Pastor William Ward Ayer was NRB's first president. Instrumental in the formation of the association, Ayer drafted the Code of Ethics that formed the basis of evangelical response to the radio networks' threat against religious broadcasting in the 1940s. This award is presented to an individual NRB member with excellence and integrity for outstanding and significant contributions to the field of Christian communications.

The William Ward Ayer Award is one of 21 awards that will be presented during Proclaim 17, which takes place February 27-March 2, 2017, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando. For the complete list of 2017 award recipients, click here.
