NRB 2013 Media Awards: In Touch’s “What’s the Answer?” - Fishing Named “Best TV Commercial”

In Touch Ministries logoManassas, VAIn Touch Ministries will receive the 2013 NRB Best Television Commercial Award on Tuesday, March 5, at the NRB 2013 Convention & Exposition.

The NRB Best Television Commercial Award is presented each year for a commercial that is creative, innovative, and memorable, and that effectively engages the audience by using the television medium from artistic, technical, and communicative standpoints. This year, the judges named In Touch Ministries the winner of the award for “What’s the Answer?” - Fishing.

“For over 40 years now, In Touch has faithfully led people worldwide into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and strengthened the local church,” noted NRB President & CEO Dr. Frank Wright. “This commercial demonstrates the effectiveness with which the ministry is reaching and engaging their intended audience.”

The "What's the Answer?" television spot campaign was developed in 2012 for In Touch affiliate stations. The objective of these commercials was to capture the curiosity of viewers outside of the regular In Touch audience through a series of clever scenarios familiar to anyone in contact with young children and their precocious, and constant, questions.

In the "Fishing" spot, a young girl is shown on a dock with her grandfather, asking seemingly every question under the sun before hitting him with something of eternal significance. The concept was to entertain the audience, connect and identify them with a modern, yet classic American situation, and finally leave them wondering how they might answer the child's question.

The ad closes with the reaction of the grandfather to this surprising query, and a graphic asking, "What's the Answer?" The spot includes placement of In Touch programming information and a dynamic URL ( where viewers can see the ad again, watch a Dr. Stanley message related to the question, and find specific online content designed to help the viewer explore God's perspective on the issue.
