Wayne Pederson receiving the William Ward Ayer Award at NRB18NASHVILLE (NRB) – Reach Beyond global ambassador Wayne Pederson received the 2018 NRB William Ward Ayer Award for Distinguished Service on Friday, March 2, during the Closing Gala at Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

Pioneer broadcaster and pastor William Ward Ayer was NRB's first president. Instrumental in the formation of the association, Ayer drafted the Code of Ethics that formed the basis of evangelical response to the radio networks' threat against religious broadcasting in the 1940s. NRB’s William Ward Ayer Award for Distinguished Service is presented to an individual NRB member exhibiting excellence and integrity with outstanding and significant contributions to the field of Christian communications.

Wayne Pederson is global ambassador for Reach Beyond, following eight years as the organization's president. Prior to Reach Beyond, Pederson served as vice president for broadcasting at Moody in Chicago, executive vice president for radio at University of Northwestern in Minneapolis, executive director for Christian Music Broadcasters, and president of Mission America Coalition.

Pederson serves on several boards – the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), The Joshua Fund, Fellowship for World Evangelization, and NRB, where he previously served as chairman and president. Pederson continues his work as speaker, media spokesman, international consultant, and writer.

“As a kid, I loved radio and wanted to be on the radio,” said Pederson. “God allowed me the privilege to work at something I love, while fulfilling God’s call to share the Good News. NRB is one of the most influential forces in my career. And I’m humbled and grateful for this honor. Thank you, NRB. And thanks be to God!”

The William Ward Ayer Award was one of 26 awards that were presented during Proclaim 18, which took place February 27-March 2, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. For the complete list of 2018 award recipients, click here.
