NASHVILLE (NRB) – Mike Lindell, CEO of MyPillow, received the 2018 NRB President’s Award on Friday, March 2, during the Closing Gala at Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
The President’s Award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the faith and values upheld by the association. The recipient of the award is selected by the NRB president & CEO.
“It’s been such an honor to have been a part of the NRB Convention,” said Lindell. “I, personally, had so many divine appointments through this one event and am truly humbled to have received the President’s Award. It was so inspiring to be surrounded by so many like-minded people whose ultimate goal is to spread the love of Jesus and the hope we can have in Him.”
Millions of people have been inspired by Mike Lindell’s quintessentially American “rags-to-riches” story and his extraordinary journey of faith, hope, and redemption.
Lindell was born in Minnesota in 1961 and has long had an entrepreneurial spirit, owning several small businesses. In 2004, he had a dream about the perfect pillow. He went on to create a hugely successful company, MyPillow, despite numerous setbacks.
At the same time, however, Lindell was also imprisoned in the darkness of many addictions – including compulsive gambling, alcohol, crack, and cocaine – which were destroying every aspect of his life. At one point, the addictions became so severe that his drug dealers did an intervention on him. One night in 2009, at the end of his rope, Lindell prayed to God to free him from all his addictions, and the next morning the desires were gone.
Today, MyPillow has broken sales records in just about every venue in which the products are sold. Lindell and MyPillow have been honored to receive numerous awards throughout the years, including QVC's prestigious "Product Concept of the Year" award in 2013.
Lindell has used the platform provided by the extraordinary success of MyPillow to change the lives of those in need via the Lindell Foundation and the Recovery Network, which he co-founded to help addicts. This year he will publish his autobiography, titled What Are the Odds? From Crack Addict to CEO, which will detail his journey from an addict to a successful and respected CEO.
The NRB President’s Award was one of 26 awards that were presented during Proclaim 18, which took place February 27-March 2, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. For the complete list of 2018 award recipients, click here.
