Mart DeHaan Receives NRB Milestone Award

Mart DeHaanNASHVILLE, Tennessee (NRB) – Our Daily Bread Ministries’ Mart DeHaan received an NRB Milestone Award during the presentation of the NRB Special Service Awards at the NRB 2020 Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

Longevity in any field is becoming a rarity, and exemplary service in Christian broadcasting for 50 years — or more — is a feat worthy of recognition and applause. Through its Milestone Award, NRB honors the industry pioneers who brought Christian communications to the place of respect and achievement it enjoys today.

“Every one of these recipients raises the bar for all believers,” Janet Parshall, NRB’s Chairman of the Board, said of all the award winners during the NRB 2020 Closing Gala with Special Service Awards on February 28. “They are a picture of what it means to be completely dedicated to the cause of Christ no matter what – to be completely sold out to the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Mart DeHaan is the grandson of Our Daily Bread Founder Dr. M. R. DeHaan. He is the son of former President Richard W. DeHaan and served as President of RBC Ministries (now Our Daily Bread Ministries) from 1985 to 2011.

DeHaan has been with the ministry for more than 50 years and got his start in radio with Sounds of the Times, a short-feature radio series of random on-campus interviews that explored the religious experiences and opinions of young people. He also served as Bible Teacher of the half-hour weekend edition of the Radio Bible Class, and Day of Discovery telecast. Later, DeHaan teamed up with Co-Host Jimmy DeYoung to take the Day of Discovery production The Lands of the Bible to present the real landscapes, people, and stories of the Bible. During the same period, he enlisted the help of Bible teachers Haddon Robinson and Alice Mathews in the conversation format of Discover the Word radio.

Presently, DeHaan continues in Discover the Word together with guests and regular Co-Hosts Bill Crowder, Elisa Morgan, and Daniel Day. He also serves in the capacity of Senior Content Advisor.

The NRB Milestone Award was one of 27 awards that were presented during the NRB 2020 Convention, which took place February 25-28 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. For the complete list of 2020 award recipients, click here.
