Iran Deal Leaves Americans Behind

Manassas, VA– NRB is dismayed that the Obama Administration would strike a nuclear deal with Iran without first securing the release and safe return of four Americans, including Pastor Saeed Abedini, who are unjustly incarcerated in Iran.

“This is outrageous!” declared Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, President & CEO of NRB. “Pastor Saeed Abedini is a U.S. citizen and he is imprisoned because the Iranian regime finds his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to be offensive. How can the White House leave him and the three other Americans in Iran behind?”

Pastor Saeed Abedini was arrested by Iranian authorities in September 2012 for allegedly being a threat to Iran’s national security. In a January 2015 meeting in Idaho, President Obama told Pastor Abedini’s wife, Naghmeh, that securing his freedom was a “top priority.”

Dr. Johnson continued, “Before even considering the details of this deal, I urge Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle to stand in solidarity against it without the safe return of these U.S. citizens.”
