NRB Leaders Offer Condolences to Family of Danny and Anne Graham Lotz

Anne and Danny LotzNRB leaders offered their condolences to the familiy of Danny Lotz following his passing Wednesday.

Since Monday, Lotz had been in ICU after his wife, Anne Graham Lotz, found him unresponsive. At the age of 50, Lotz developed a severe case of Adult 1 diabetes. For more than 10 years following his retirement from dentistry, he fought the ravages of the disease, earning him the beloved nickname "God’s Gladiator."

On Wednesday, Anne Graham Lotz's ministry reported that Lotz "moved to our Father’s House on August 19, 2015 and received the accolade of his Savior, Lord, and King who presented him with the Crown of Righteousness." He was 78.

"The Lotz and Graham families are a blessing to NRB and we thank God for them," commented NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson. "Danny Lotz had a strong testimony to the end, even through suffering. While we praise God that Danny is in a better place and his pain is gone, we are praying for Anne and the rest of the family in their loss. May they know God's love, presence, and strength in these days."

Those who knew Lotz say he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and mentor, continuing to lead men’s Bible studies in Chapel Hill, NC, into this year. But most of all he was known for his devotion to Jesus Christ.

He and Anne had three children — a son, Jonathan, and two daughters, Morrow and Rachel-Ruth. They were married for 49 years.

"Though Danny Lotz was recognized for his many outstanding personal and professional achievements, his most important tribute was he was an exceptional godly husband and leader to Anne and their children," remarked NRB Chairman of the Board Bill Blount. "His legacy continues through them and the many lives he invested biblical leadership in!"

Aside from his children, Lotz has three granddaughters - Ruth Bell, Sophia Frances, and Anne Riggin. He is also survived by his two sons-in-law, Traynor Reitmeier and Steven Wright; his daughter-in-law, Jenny Jones Lotz; his brother and sister-in-law, Denton and Janice Lotz; and his sisters-in-law, Beverly and Vicki Lotz. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Sam and John.
