Wendy Alec, who founded GOD TV, was honored last month during the Global Media Summit (GMS) conference in Dallas, Texas.
Alec was one of three media professionals honored with the GMS Global Platinum Award during a gala on April 30.
"It is our desire to focus public attention on exceptional Christian men and women who influence our society through cultural, educational, technological, entertainment, news and informational achievements in media," said Suellen Roberts, President of the Christian Women in Media Association and one of the hosts of the GMS conference, in an announcement about the awards.
As President of GOD TV network, Alec says her objective has always been to make Christian television relevant to the unchurched and to reach a younger demographic of viewers. GOD TV is Europe's first daily Christian television network and today reaches 951 million viewers. Alec is also an award-winning TV producer and a best-selling author of the series Chronicles of Brothers. In addition, she is the Director of Warboys Entertainment London, which is producing a major televisions series from the Chronicles of Brothers book series.
Alec founded GOD TV in 1995 as the “Christian Channel Europe.”
