Life-Changing Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day 2015

Mother's Day GiftsEach year, a number of Christian nonprofits produce and present gift catalogs with ideas that will not only honor mothers on Mother’s Day but also improve the lives of poverty-stricken children, mothers, and families that struggle to survive in developing countries.

This year, Food For The Poor is encouraging people to honor their mothers by pledging to sponsor an orphan in her name through Food For The Poor’s Angels Of Hope program. For $34 a month, you can serve as a guardian angel to a child in need.

“Your sponsorship will serve as a symbol of hope to your sponsored child, assuring them that they are not alone, no matter what hardships they may have encountered,” expressed Robin Mahfood, President/CEO of Food For The Poor.

Compassion International, World Vision, and Samaritan’s Purse, similarly, are encouraging people to honor their mothers with a gift that will change the lives of others.

Samaritan’s Purse, for example, has Maternal and Child Health Projects to which people can make a gift – making a difference in the life of a mother overseas while honoring a special mom in their own life.

“Being a mother is one of the hardest and toughest jobs in the world. And all moms deserve to be celebrated,” commented Cissie Graham Lynch, who recently returned from a three-week trip to Southeast Asia with Samaritan’s Purse to work on programs that help women and children in an impoverished part of the world.

Unfortunately, while motherhood is a joy and a privilege, it can be a burden for women in some places.

"But we can help ease their burden,” Lynch stated.
