Alliance Defense Fund Renamed; Now Alliance Defending Freedom

Alliance Defending Freedom logoLast month, Arizona-based legal ministry Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) officially changed its name to Alliance Defending Freedom.

In an announcement, the ministry said the new name will better communicate what it does: build alliances between Christian attorneys and like-minded organizations to defend religious freedom.

“After prayerful deliberations and much research, we now have a new name that effectively identifies our mission,” reported Alan Sears, ADF’s President, CEO, and General Counsel.

“By God’s amazing grace, an exciting new chapter in the 18-year history of this alliance-building legal ministry has begun!” he added.

According to the ministry, the name change rightly reflects its enduring mission to gain justice for those whose faith has been unconstitutionally denied in the areas of religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and marriage and family.

Since its founding in 1994, ADF has worked with more than 300 organizations, helping to coordinate an allied effort and to provide resources and strategic direction on cases related to its mission.

In his announcement, Sears said the alliance is winning nearly 80 percent of the court battles it has litigated to completion.  To date, the ministry has also provided millions of dollars in funding for hundreds of cases and legal projects to protect religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and marriage and family.

“We pray this new name will open thousands of new doors for Alliance Defending Freedom; strengthen our efforts; attract additional Allied Ministry Friends; make us even more effective at defending religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and marriage and family; and allow us to do things this ministry has never done before — for the glory of God, and the eternal salvation of more and more people,” Sears remarked.

In addition to its headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ, Alliance Defending Freedom has eight regional service centers located in Washington, DC; Folsom, CA; Greenwood Village, CO.; Leawood, KS; Paris, KY; Lawrenceville, GA; New York, NY (United Nations); and Vienna, Austria. Alliance Defending Freedom also has Allied Attorneys nationwide and internationally.
