If you’ve been around Christian media, you’ve probably heard of Focus on the Family. Focus on the Family is a global Christian ministry dedicated to helping families thrive. Since its founding in 1977, Focus on the Family has provided help and resources for couples to build strong, biblical marriages and raise children according to biblical principles.

“We’re here to come alongside families with relevance and grace at each stage of their journey,” Focus proclaims on their website. “We support families as they seek to teach their children about God and His beautiful design for the family, protect themselves from the harmful influences of culture, and equip themselves to make a greater difference in the lives of those around them.”

Ultimately, Focus on the Family believes that the purpose of all life is to know and glorify God through an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and that this purpose is intended to be lived out in families and extended to a broken world in need of a savior.

Their mission is this: “To be led by the Holy Spirit in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible by nurturing and affirming the God-ordained institution of the family and proclaiming biblical truths worldwide.”

For 45 years, they have been doing that through radio broadcasts, websites, simulcasts, conferences, interactive forums, magazines, books, counseling, and more. And for the past 38 years, they have done so as a member of NRB.

“Focus on the Family started in 1977, and we had a very clear mission—to help strengthen the family,” Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family and host of its daily radio broadcast, said. “That, in our minds, is the best way to help the culture.”

Over the years, as media has evolved and new media has emerged, Focus on the Family’s outreach has grown to include a wide variety of broadcasts, podcasts, telecasts, films, websites, blogs, and radio drama programs such as Adventures in OdysseyWait No MoreDalyFocus, and more.

Through radio, print, digital, and other mediums, Focus on the Family has built their ministry on six guiding philosophies:

1. The preeminence of evangelism
2. The permanence of marriage
3. The value of children
4. The sanctity of human life
5. The importance of social responsibility
6. The value of male and female

Right now, See Life 2021, their annual pro-life celebration, is in full swing at Focus on the Family. For this year’s celebration, Focus on the Family is combining the best of both in-person and digital opportunities to reach more people with the pro-life message. See Life 2021 is already impacting millions of people online and will culminate with the live event “Celebrate Life” in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, August 28.

During the six weeks leading up to the event, Focus on the Family is releasing six digital episodes to share meaningful discussions from everyday heroes in the pro-life movement. The episode themes are:

  • The Truth About Life
  • Inside a PRC
  • Ultrasounds: The Power of a Picture
  • Sometimes the Choice is Hard
  • It’s Going to Be Amazing!
  • Families Helping Families

Focus on the Family invites NRB members and their audiences to view these episodes on Focus on the Family’s social media channels. You can also find them on YouTube here.

“Celebrate Life” is a free pro-life event featuring speakers Jim Daly; Amy Ford, president of Embrace Grace; Matthew West; Nick Vujicic, President and CEO of Life Without Limbs; and Toni Clare, Executive Director of Assure Women’s Center. The evening will include inspiring worship, amazing pro-life stories, and interactive experiences for the entire family.

Through this event and the resources they release leading up to the event, Focus on the Family is declaring their belief in the sanctity of human life and in the value of children and inviting others to join them in affirming these values. As human beings created in God’s image, every person has inherent dignity and worth, and the Christian call is one to defend, protect, and value all human life.

Since 1977, Focus on the Family has committed to upholding these values and equipping families to do the same. See Life 2021 is just one example of what the ministry is doing right now to bring the gospel to the world as families learn to fulfill their biblical calling.
