On September 20, Troy A. Miller, president & CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), joined Kelly Wright on an episode of “America’s Hope,” to talk about how Christians should be invested in the future of Israel and concerned about regional peace and safety, particularly in light of Miller’s recent remarks at the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast in New York City.

“It’s Christian media and communicators that have really stepped up to get the truth out of what’s going on in Israel and … with all the antisemitism that we see around the world,” Miller said. “The Jewish people really feel that isolation—they realize that they’ve been abandoned by their progressive left friends. Our message to them was, you’re not alone. Christian communicators are out there. Conservative networks are bringing this message to the forefront. We’re not going to forget about you. We’re praying for you every day.”

Miller also spoke with Chris and Christine Stigall on their podcast “Making The Leap” to discuss the NRB Convention as well as some of the challenges Christian programmers face in bringing their products to market.

“There are more opportunities for people to get into Christian media today than ever before, but at the same time, there’s more opposition,” Miller said. “We advocate for a wide variety of members. It’s not our choice to say what God’s called them to, but it’s our work to keep them active as a voice in the public sector today.”

Earlier this week, Miller joined Dr. Ben Carson on “Common Sense” to discuss the critical need for evangelical voters to engage in the political process, the erosion of First Amendment freedoms, the impact of social media censorship, and the pivotal role of Christian values in society.

“I think amongst Christians, there’s a misunderstanding of what it means to live out our faith in the public square,” Miller said. “We’re called to be salt and light in the culture, to influence the culture, yet half of evangelicals don’t even follow the major issues of the time.”

Miller also spoke with William Wolfe on the “Center for Baptist Leadership” podcast to talk about censorship of Christian media, NRB’s challenge to the Johnson Amendment, and why Christians must prioritize civic engagement in 2024.

“If we just step back from the politics for a second, look at the direction that the country is going…and if Christians would have voted their values, the projection the country might be on today,” Miller said. “The number one place I’m going to put the problem with this is the pulpits of America, because we’ve had too many pastors who have been shamed into the idea that somehow politics is off [limits] for them to preach about.”
