On September 13, Troy A. Miller, President and CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), spoke to “Wake Up America” host Sharla McBride of Newsmax about NRB’s fight to allow evangelical churches to speak freely on political issue through its challenge to the Johnson Amendment.
“Our 1,500 members… include a lot of pastors across this country in the pulpits,” Miller said. “A number of nonprofit newspapers have endorsed candidates. … None of them have come under IRS scrutiny. But over the last several years, many evangelical churches who have done endorsements or simply … had candidates in to pray for them, have come under IRS scrutiny. And we just think that’s wrong.”

Miller also joined host Carl Higbie on his Newsmax show to discuss the challenge.
“[Since] 1954 was a long time to keep churches silent, and 501(c)(3) organizations across this country,” Miller said, “we think this is the right for any 501(c)(3) organization to be able to do without the IRS coming in and interfering with their First Amendment liberties.”

Troy A. Miller and Noelle Huizenga, NRB Vice President of Public Policy and Communication, joined host Sid Rosenberg on WABC’s “Sid in the Morning.” They discussed the rising popularity of Christian media, the importance of the evangelical vote, and Christian solidarity with the Jewish community as well as Israel’s right to exist peacefully.
“I was in Israel just two months after October 7,” Miller said. “We saw all the communities that were ravaged—and I mean ravaged—from some of the most inhumane things that went on down there. This is humanity at its worst, so it is our honor to stand by our Jewish brothers and sisters.”

“The morality and the values that Christians stand up against and the hope that the Gospel message gives, is in opposition to this leftist progressive agenda that they’re trying to move forward,” Miller said. “Right now, Christianity is the firewall that stands in their way.”
