Last week, Troy A. Miller, president & CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), spoke with Dr. Jerry Newcombe on the “Vocal Point” podcast about how Christians can make a difference by participating in elections. Plus, Miller touched on some of the key issues he discussed in his earlier op-ed for the Daily Caller, urging Christians to make their voice heard at the ballot box.
“[Christians] profess that Jesus is Lord over all things,” Miller said, “on earth as it is in heaven. That shows us that we should be involved in all segments of culture. … Christianity is meant to be public.”

In a new op-ed featured in the Daily Caller, Noelle Huizenga, NRB vice president of public policy & communications, urges all women of faith to show up on Election Day and vote for policies that uplift women.
“Bad policy hurts women and robs them of choice,” Huizenga wrote. “The voices of compassionate, enlightened individuals and those who truly honor women must be heard at the ballot box on November 5.”

Miller joined Chris Salcedo on his show to discuss the recent studies suggesting that millions of Christians have not been showing up to the polls in past election cycles. Miller called this “a betrayal of their faith and loving our neighbor,” because it allows “people who don’t hold the same values” to set the direction of the country.

On “America’s Roundtable,” radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy spoke with Miller about the significance of the Christian vote for preserving freedom of speech and religion. They also discussed NRB’s legal action challenging the Johnson Amendment, and the crucial role of the faith community in speaking to key public policy issues impacting families and their local communities.
“Pastors should have the freedom that they had in this country for over one hundred seventy-five years to speak out on issues that are important to them and important to our faith,” Miller said. “Our Christian worldview isn’t just for the four walls of the church. A Christian worldview is meant to impact culture.”

Miller joined NRB President’s Council member Işık Abla on her show to speak about how Christians must remain bold in sharing the Gospel even in the midst of the current political climate in America.
“Christians are certainly being marginalized today. As Christians, one of the things that we need to do is not cower. We’re always called as Christians to be bold in our faith,” Miller said. “Don’t succumb to the culture that tells you that Christianity is the only religion that has to be kept within the four walls of that church and not be part of the publish sector. Christianity has always influenced whatever culture its come into, and it’s influenced those cultures for the better.”
