Troy A. Miller, president & CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), recently spoke with Dave Dias, co-founder of Foundations of Freedom, about the FCC’s approval of a controversial license transfer concerning Audacy, the nation’s second-largest radio company. The conversation focused on the fast-track nature of the approval process in light of the upcoming election.

“The best thing to do is call your congressman and make them aware of this,” Miller said. “God has given us this wonderful opportunity to be part of our electoral process to elect the people who are going to govern over us. … More than ever, your country needs your voice.”

Miller discussed the same topic on Kinship Radio in a two-part conversation with Radio Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Hayden Stokes, as well as NRB’s work on behalf of Christian communicators to keep corporate America accountable to First Amendment freedoms.

“NRB has started to work on being in communication and connection with corporate America,” Miller said, referencing NRB’s recent Capitol Hill Media Summit, which featured Meta’s Vice President of Public Policy, Kevin Martin.

Absent Christian corporate engagement, Miller observed, “we’ll see corporate America continue its cancel culture against Evangelical Christian messages.”

Miller was featured on NTD News’ “Capitol Report” to speak with Steve Lance about the importance of the evangelical vote, particularly considering cancel culture, the weaponization of government, the abortion issue, and the relationship between Christianity and Israel.

“Politics is driving the culture—it’s no longer following the culture,” Miller said. “So if you’re a Christian and you want to look at who’s going to govern you and decide the future of policies that are going to affect your life and the morals and values that you hold dear, … you need to be involved in this process—the right to elect the officials who will govern over us.”

On the “Vocal Point” podcast with Dr. Jerry Newcombe, executive director of the Providence Forum, Miller discussed the suppression of free speech in Christian broadcasting and communications as well as other key issues for NRB.

“We’re a constitutional republic,” Miller said. “We’re not a democracy. We’re not guided by the will of the majority. As a matter of fact, our founding fathers went out of their way to protect minority opinions across this country with the way they structured the government.”

Miller spoke with Paul Calvert, a Christian journalist based in the Middle East, about Israel-U.S. relations, the NRB Convention, and the association’s overall mission.

“It is important to get the hope of the Gospel out to this world—a world today that is so fractured and is so much full of despair and depression,” Miller said. “[Our] job is to protect the right of all these different ministries in evangelism, … apologetics, … to address social issues, whatever God has called them to do. We work to keep them in the public sector. And that to me is so enriching, fulfilling, and at the same time, so humbling.”
