Troy A. Miller, president & CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), spoke with Billy Hallowell of CBN News about NRB’s partnership with the Barna Group for the creation of “The State of Christian Media” study.

“We asked [respondents] to answer how they use Christian media outside of their church,” Miller said. “So that was key for us, to not…taint this by their church activity.”

He said the two factors that most resonated with him were some of the Christian media usage stats, including the fact that 60% of Americans use Christian media in some form.

“I think the big lesson for Christian outlets—Christian media—is that people are paying attention,” he said.

Miller also spoke with Dr. John B. Sorensen, CEO & president of Evangelism Explosion International, about how Miller came to faith in Christ as well as his career journey from the Navy to leading NRB. They also discussed why Miller believes in broadcasting as a great method for sharing the Gospel.

“We have to get over the fear factor today that the world pushes on us to be quiet, to separate your faith life from your public life,” Miller said. “A lot of us are sharing our lives with people through social media. Shouldn’t we share the most important message that God has given us? And that’s the message and the hope of the Gospel.”

Miller spoke with Michael Wilson, on Patriot Talk 920 AM, about how the Barna study showed that Christian media users tend to be younger, with social media commanding the broadest reach among Christian media platforms.

“Gen Z leads the way with 64 percent engaging in Christian social media accounts, followed by Millennials at 58 percent,” Miller said. “So that’s makes Christian media, especially in the social platforms, one of the most powerful messages out there.”
