Troy A. Miller, president & CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), joined singer-songwriter Matthew West on his podcast, ahead of the 2025 NRB Convention in Grapevine, Texas, where West will lead the musical segment at the Opening Session. Miller shared his testimony of faith and discussed the importance of protecting the rights of religious broadcasters.
“The whole history of Christianity has shown the impact Christianity has had on every culture it’s come into, and that impact has always been for the positive,” Miller said. “The devil would like nothing better than to keep that view locked up inside of a church. So it’s not really about us being involved in politics, it’s about whether we’re going to live out what we really believe.”

“We still have a very strong cancel culture out there—people who don’t want the Christian message to broadcast across the airwaves,” Miller said. “Quite honestly, we have a culture that is in desperate need of Christ. … And I know personally the power that Christian communicators can have.”

“I was able to come to Israel just two months after the [October 7] attack, to meet with people, and to bring that message that the Christian church is praying for your peace and well-being,” Miller said. “I think we’ve really started to develop not just a connection because of our biblical roots but also a connection because of God’s people.”

“Today’s communications industry is a tidal wave of change,” Miller said. “We have traditional media and broadcasting…and new digital frontiers. I think the key for us is to make sure we’re always involved. We at NRB work really hard to keep our finger on the pulse of what’s going on in these different areas.”
