Troy A. Miller, NRB president & CEO, spoke with Matt Alvarez on Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN), about the importance of preserving AM radio for public access and emergency communications. Miller explained that AM radio remains a vital source of free, over-the-air content for millions of Americans, highlighting legislative efforts to keep it in vehicles.

“AM radio is by far not a dead medium,” Miller said. “Eighty million people today still listen on a regular basis, and it’s critical for news, information, and emergency alerts. … This is about control of information and who’s going to be the gatekeeper in your car. And we don’t need any more gatekeepers in this country.”

On “Sunday the Road Forward” with guest host Ryan Helfenbein, Miller discussed NRB’s challenge to the Johnson Amendment.

“The real issue here is about the government stepping in between pastors…and their call before God,” Miller said. “And that is exactly what the First Amendment was meant to protect the church against. … Pastors are called to preach the word of God, the full counsel of God, and to speak into issues that are important to them to shepherd and guide their flocks.”

Miller spoke with Larry Sparks, publisher of Destiny Image, about the changing landscape of Christian media, emphasizing the importance of utilizing new technologies like social media and podcasting to share the gospel.

“I always talk to people about our role as Christians,” Miller said, “the role of redeeming things as ambassadors for Christ here on earth. And we should be redeeming these new technologies.”

Miller joined Steve Reimann at ABQ Connect to share about his recent appointment to the national board of the American Friends of Magen David Adom, a nonprofit that supports Israel’s national emergency medical and disaster relief efforts.

“Until we get a real ideological change within the middle East, their services are going to be required across the nation of Israel and its surrounding boarder communities,” Miller said. “They serve such a great role. I’ve had a chance to be at their headquarters in Israel to be with their folks in the field. They are some of the most loving, caring, kind, well-trained people you’ll ever meet in the world.”
