Against the backdrop of a wintry Washington, D.C., tens of thousands of pro-life marchers gathered for the 51st annual March for Life on January 19—the second march in a post-Roe America. “We are not done. We will keep marching every January at the national level, as well as in our states, until our nation’s laws reflect the basic truth that all human life is created equal and is worthy of protection,” said March for Life president Jeanne Mancini in her opening remarks.
Event speakers included NRB member Jim Daly, President and CEO of Focus on the Family. NRB members who sponsored the event included Focus on the Family, GiveSendGo, Alliance Defending Freedom, and ProLove Ministries. Hundreds of NRB member Liberty University students marched alongside participants braving the winter elements.
“I am so proud to see Liberty University students taking time out of their schedule to voluntarily make the trek all the way up to D.C. on a snowy day that was below freezing,” said Liberty University vice president of communications and public engagement Ryan Helfenbein. “It demonstrates they care and are deeply committed to protecting the sanctity and dignity of human life.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Chris Smith (R-N.J.), House Caucus Chair, came from Capitol Hill to speak to the crowd.
“My friends, let’s be encouraged. Let’s press on in hope that we can join together and make this great difference. I believe that we can,” said Johnson under falling snow. “We can stand with every woman, for every child, and we can truly build a culture that cherishes and protects life.”
NRB counts many steadfast pro-life advocates among its members and stands with them in championing laws and policies that preserve the sanctity of life at every level.
