Kimberly Fletcher: Military Moms on the Frontline for American Freedom

In a culture increasingly challenged by political division and social confusion, Kimberly Fletcher is on a mission to empower mothers as the primary defenders of faith, family, and freedom. As the president, CEO, and founder of Moms for America, Fletcher has dedicated more than two decades to awakening what she calls the most powerful force in the world—the influence of a mother.

“The very center of society is the family and the home,” Fletcher said. “And the center of that home and family is the mother. She is determining the entire cultural makeup of that home, which becomes the cultural makeup of the world.”

Moms for America—a national organization dedicated to empower moms, promote liberty, and raise patriots—was born from Fletcher’s life as the wife of a retired United States Air Force officer and the mother of eight children.

“When you are serving in the military, your whole entire family is committed to making that sacrifice and doing whatever it takes to support the person who’s serving,” she said.

This commitment meant frequent relocations every two to three years. While each move brought inevitable challenges, Kimberly embraced it by making the most of every new location—exploring historic sites, natural landmarks, and getting to know each place the best she could.

A life-changing moment came for her on September 11, 2001. On that day, her husband was stationed at the Pentagon.

“Through a series of absolute miracles, he came home safe,” she said. “That was the day I went from just being patriotic to being a patriot.”

This firsthand encounter with the cost of freedom propelled Fletcher into action. The years following 9/11 became a period of preparation: attending town halls, running for school board, and homeschooling her children. Each step helped shape the foundation for Moms for America. While she felt the Lord call her to start the organization, at the time, she thought, “What do I know? I’m just a mom.”

“God qualifies who He calls,” she now understands, “and He put all the right people in my path and provided the right experiences to prepare me to be able to lead this organization.”

Homeschooling her children became a joint discovery process, as Fletcher taught her children about American history, the Constitution, and liberty—topics she hadn’t fully grasped herself.

“A whole new world was opened up to me, and I was learning about heroes and patriots through American history and women, mothers, and even children who were a part of the fight for freedom,” she said.

Wherever they moved, Kimberly’s priority was finding a church. Especially when her husband was deployed, the church provided support for the daily challenges of raising a large family alone.

“Being able to have that church connection around you is the most valuable thing I could encourage moms to do,” she said.

Too often, she hears from mothers who feel abandoned by their faith communities and wonder why the church isn’t more present in their lives.

“Every church should have some kind of some person who volunteers or serves…picks up the responsibility of military support within their community,” she said, urging churches near military bases to “open their arms and reach out” to families onsite.

Kimberly believes that the church, as the pillar and foundation of the truth, has a responsibility to boldly uphold the principles of faith, family, and freedom. When the church stands firm in these values, it creates the cultural and spiritual environment in which families can thrive.

“You don’t have faith without freedom,” Fletcher said.

She calls on Christian leaders to defend the Constitution as a safeguard for God-given rights. Historically, pastors held powerful cultural influence—something she believes must be reclaimed. While the church proclaims truth at a communal level, mothers live it out daily in their homes, nurturing the values that ultimately determine a nation’s future.

“Mothers are truly the best hope of America,” Fletcher said. “Everything that we do…is creating the future of our country and our world. Too often we abdicate that influence to someone else.”

Yet in every circumstance, Kimberly rests in the truth that she doesn’t carry it all—because “no matter what, God is always at the helm.”
