How Can We Use Artificial Intelligence Safely for the Gospel?

NRB | February 20, 2025 | Industry

Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a concept of the future—it’s here, transforming all forms of communication. AI presents both opportunities and challenges, and understanding its role through a biblical lens is essential.

“AI is transforming the way we connect, communicate, and share the Gospel,” said Matthew Potter, co-founder of Pray.com. “As Christian leaders, we have a responsibility to engage with this technology thoughtfully—ensuring it aligns with biblical values and serves as a tool for discipleship, evangelism, and outreach.”

At NRB 2025, join respected leaders at a two-part panel discussion to equip ministry leaders, broadcasters, and content creators with a scriptural foundation for using AI in a way that aligns with their faith. Potter will moderate the discussions, “A Biblical Perspective on AI” and “Transforming Ministry with AI.”

“If we don’t take an active role in shaping AI’s use in Christian communication,” says Potter, “we risk allowing secular perspectives to dictate how technology impacts faith-based content.”

This forum will provide attendees with a biblical foundation for using AI in ministry, rooted in principles of wisdom (James 1:5), stewardship (Genesis 1:28), and discernment (1 John 4:1).

“By focusing on these biblical principles, the panel will help Christian communicators harness AI in a way that strengthens, rather than dilutes, the message of Christ,” Potter explained.

Beyond the theological framework, this discussion will offer actionable insights for ministries seeking to expand their reach and effectiveness. Attendees will learn how AI can increase monthly giving, save costs by consolidating digital tools, automate content distribution, enhance engagement, and break language barriers with real-time translation.

“By leveraging AI, ministries can expand their impact while being better stewards of their time and financial resources—allowing them to focus more on their calling and less on digital logistics,” says Potter.

Matthew Potter, co-founder of Pray.com, will moderate the panel discussion. Pray.com is the world’s #1 faith-based app, driven by a mission to grow faith and cultivate community. Potter brings expertise in the areas of strategizing change, building tech products and apps, and finding markets in the continuously evolving technology industry. He also created Homestack, a white-label real estate app before stepping down to become a founder at Pray. Apart from Homestack and Pray, he has developed more than 6,000 apps and is devoted to applying his expertise to do something bigger for the Kingdom of God. Potter studied at Boise State University.
