Great Commission Forum to Gather, Inspire Ministries Reaching Outside U.S.

NRB’s 2020 Great Commission Forum will be held on the first day of the four-day NRB 2020 Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

Sponsored by The John Ankerberg Show and Evangelism Explosion International, the forum “is the venue for U.S.-based workers to find out what God is doing around the world and to meet the ministries that they can partner with to expand their ministry reach,” says Tim Whitehead, Executive Director of Galcom International and Chairman of the NRB International Standing Committee.

“So many people and ministries don’t get involved in overseas missions because they (1) don’t think they can afford it, (2) don’t think they have the expertise to make a difference, or (3) are simply afraid,” notes Whitehead. “The NRB Convention brings Christian media workers from all over the world to America who are looking for the same training and encouragement as U.S. media professionals.”

The keynote speaker for the forum taking place on Tuesday, February 25, is Andrew Brunson, the American pastor who was operating a house of prayer in Turkey for 23 years until he was falsely accused of terrorism in October 2016. For nearly two years, Brunson was held in Turkish prisons before the North Carolina native was finally sentenced to time served and dramatically released in October 2018 following a worldwide prayer movement and significant political pressure from the U.S. government.

Also taking the stage during the Great Commission Forum will be REBORN, a three-man group of “musicianaries” (music missionaries), as well as a panel of international media leaders, including Ron Harris of MEDIAlliance International, Jennifer Epperson of Christian Healthcare Ministries, and Chuck Pollack of Sharing International.

“Our panel of experts will show how we can overcome the first two barriers to overseas mission work,” says Whitehead, “and this year we have the added blessing of hearing from Pastor Andrew Brunson who spent two years in a Turkish prison for his faith. His testimony will surely show us we have nothing to fear when we are serving God in His Great Commission!”

Preceding the session, which takes place 3-5 p.m., will be a reception from 2 to 3 p.m. where international attendees of NRB 2020 and attendees whose organizations have an international outreach will have the opportunity to network and have fellowship.

Access to the Great Commission Forum is part of a full registration for the NRB 2020 Christian Media Convention, which concludes on February 28.
