Gov. Ron DeSantis Welcomes Broadcasters, Franklin Graham Headlines Opening Session at NRB 2023
Graham Challenges Christian Communicators to Remain
Faithful to Their Calling
ORLANDO, FLA. (NRB) – On Monday, May 22, the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) association—a nonpartisan, international association of Christian communicators—presented a dynamic Opening Session to its annual media convention featuring Gov. Ron DeSantis, Franklin Graham, Abraham Hamilton III, Israel Minister of Tourism Haim Katz, top NRB leaders, and more. The Opening Session was sponsored by the Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT).
“This event is all about equipping and empowering God’s people to carry the truth forward, and our Opening Session set the tone for an instrumental and historic NRB Convention,” said NRB President & CEO Troy A. Miller.
The session opened with special remarks from Gov. Ron DeSantis, who welcomed the community of Christian broadcasters to the state of Florida and exhorted Christians to “Get ready, put on the full Armor of God, stand firm in the truth, and never ever back down.”
Franklin Graham, worldwide evangelist and President & CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse, delivered the keynote address to the Opening Session, charging attendees to remain faithful to God’s calling.
“Preach. Don’t back off. ‘But what if they don’t listen?’ If you don’t tell them the truth, they are not going to listen,” Graham said. “Don’t apologize for the Gospel. Give an invitation. It works. I promise you that.”
Abraham Hamilton, III, Host of “The Hamilton Corner” at American Family Radio, reminded attendees that “witnessing is not an activity, it is a state of being” and that we must be “dead to our own self-centered, Christ-rivaling agendas, quickened to life, fully granted and given over to His purposes.” Israel Minister of Tourism Haim Katz also delivered remarks. NRB President & CEO Troy A. Miller and NRB Chairman Dr. Frank Wright remarked that the unprecedented gathering at the 2023 NRB Convention signals the magnitude of the work of Christian communicators. Contemporary Christian artist Nicole C. Mullen provided choice musical selections, including her classic Christian contemporary hit, “My Redeemer Lives.”
