Global Crusade with Kumuyi is Reaching Millions, Changing Lives

Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK) has been a catalyst for profound spiritual transformation across the globe. Over just the last three years of the organization’s existence, GCK has reached more than 180 nations, counted 600,000 conversions, and welcomed 5.9 million attendees to their powerful evangelistic campaigns.

At the heart of GCK is the visionary leadership of Dr. William Kumuyi (kuːmujiː), pastor and convener of GCK. Renowned for his expository preaching style and unwavering commitment to biblical truth, Dr. Kumuyi has captured the hearts of millions worldwide, first through Deeper Life Christian Ministry (Deeper Life), a church he founded in 1973. At 83 years old, Dr. Kumuyi continues to inspire audiences worldwide with his unwavering faith and passion for spreading the Gospel.

Pastor Niran Seriki, who lives in the UK, helps coordinate GCK’s global crusades and doubles as a national pastor for Deeper Life in Belgium. Seriki has been involved in GCK from the very start of the ministry, when Pastor Kumuyi first shared his vision on June 21, 2021.

“Transformation of life is the key thing when it comes to this kind of program and the faithfulness of Dr. Kumuyi,” Seriki said. “I’ve never seen a man as passionate as him. … It’s his commitment to the truth, preaching the Word without fear, and ensuring that what he has received from the Lord is delivered to the people.”

Before GCK was founded, Seriki was initially involved in Dr. Kumuyi’s local gatherings across Nigeria in June 2021. Following the directives of Dr. Kumuyi, Seriki helped explore the potential for the global reach of the event and took steps to make it happen, by calling key ministry leaders in France, the US, and the UK to partner with them. They also expanded their reach by livestreaming the gathering on Zoom, YouTube, and social media.

“So the following morning,” Seriki said, “a local crusade became a global crusade.”

Daniel Afolayan, who leads the global social media team for GCK, described the gathering as a “Billy Graham-style crusade,” featuring preaching from Dr. Kumuyi alongside other ministers, musical worship, and prayers. Crusades have taken place all over the world, including in Cameroon, India, Nigeria, the Philippines, the UAE, and Zambia.

“Looking across the last three years, one of the joys is that we’ve been able to cover a massive amount of ground,” Afolayan said.

At each crusade, GCK fills an open-air arena, welcoming a crowd to a night of multilingual praise and proclamation of the Gospel. Guest music ministers have included Paul Baloche, Jonathan White, William McDowell, Don Moen, Bob Fitts, Dunsin Oyekan, and Nathaniel Bassey. Dr. Kumuyi’s powerful preaching culminates in mass conversions and healings as he shares the Gospel with both the in-person and online audiences.

In addition to hosting these worldwide crusades about once a month, GCK holds a youth conference and a ministers’ conference concurrently with the evening crusades. The global crusade spans Thursday to Tuesday evenings. The ministers’ conference takes place on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday mornings, with the youth conference usually on Saturday mornings.

Because each crusade is livestreamed on Zoom, online participants can benefit from digital language translation. In addition, GCK repurposes its content through television, radio, or YouTube programs, offering daily teachings to a variety of audiences, such as young adults, professionals, and ministers. By repurposing GCK content, powerful spiritual experiences in one location are amplified across the globe.

“Because God is not a limited God, what happens in a location is replicated across the world, in terms of experience with the Lord, in terms of miracles, signs, and wonders,” Seriki said.

GCK relies on their vast volunteer network and global partner organizations on the ground, as well as the financial support of the home ministry, Deeper Life, the church in Nigeria where Dr. Kumuyi serves as pastor. While funding can be an obstacle, the Lord always provides exactly what they need.

“The foundation is just joy, because we know Him, and He owns everything,” said Nathan Drake, marketing director at GCK. “He’s able to make all the connections happen. So it could be challenging, but it always comes back to relying on the Lord for everything.”

GCK collects their conversion figures both from virtual and physical attendees.

“Conversions … [are] the spiritual return on investment,” Afolayan said.

The day after the crusade, GCK provides a follow-up program to equip these new converts with resources for living the Christian life.

GCK often hosts special events in the region leading up to the crusade. For example, for several days before a crusade, a medical team will provide free services locally and invite people to attend the crusade. This approach attracts people from various faiths who are seeking medical attention and are then introduced to the Gospel.

Projected for July 2025, a GCK gathering will take place for the first time in the US. The GCK team is open to partnering with Christian denominations and groups to make the crusades and conferences in the US successful.

“We’re coming home to where Doctor Kumuyi got some tips from Billy Graham,” Afolayan said, “and I know it’s going to be a great homecoming.”

Each leader shared that working with GCK has impacted their personal journey of spiritual growth.

“When you see people pass from death to life, nothing else matters,” Drake said. “It adds to my faith. We just need to remain faithful in what the Lord has given us to do.”

“There’s nothing you can compare with being right there on the ground where the crusade is taking place,” Seriki shared. “There’s a feeling you have of really seeing the experiences of what Jesus did in his days, happening right before your eyes.”
