As we enter this Christmas season, many nonprofits used this week’s Giving Tuesday movement as the initiation of their year-end-giving campaigns. This year as we celebrate God’s gracious gift of abundant life, we have the opportunity to lean into God’s calling for us to love others—not only with our words but also with our deeds (1 John 3:16-18). COVID-19 has had devastating effects on individuals, families, and non-profits. As followers of Christ, we are called to give generously and to give sacrificially, giving not from our surplus but even from our poverty (Luke 21:1-4). As we look for ways to give generously this season, we wanted to highlight some NRB member organizations, the work that they are doing, and ways that we can come alongside them as we approach the end of this year.
Consider donating by check or ACH transfer when you have the option in order to help these organizations avoid credit card processing fees and to ensure that as much of your donation as possible gets to your nonprofit. If you do give using a credit card, some organizations offer you an option to help cover the processing fee.

They feed millions of the hungry poor primarily in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. This interdenominational Christian ministry provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicine, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skills training and micro-enterprise development assistance.
As part of their Giving Tuesday fundraising effort this year, their goal was to raise funds to provide homes for families.
“Many families in the countries where we serve are in dire need of a secure home,” said Food for the Poor Executive Director Angel Aloma. “That reality is the reason we have decided to double the number of homes during the annual fundraiser from 24 to 48.”

They seek to identify ministries that empower people to reach their full potential and become all that God envisioned when he created them. They are committed to standing with neighbors to help them reclaim their communities. Rather than doing for others what they can do for themselves, they empower others to do what they can do for themselves. Their four main ministry areas are: prayer initiatives, compassion evangelism, leadership development, and disaster and crisis response.
This Giving Tuesday, Somebody Cares set a goal of raising $10,000 to “Let them know Somebody Cares.” When you give to Somebody Cares, your donation directly impacts the lives of people in crisis with the love of Jesus.
