NRB members, partners, and friends—joined by a large virtual audience—gathered on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C. for the seventh annual National Prayer Altar. This event, held just 12 days before the presidential election, aimed to unite Christians of various backgrounds in prayer for the nation’s future.
Pastors James and Sharon Ward, who host the annual event, highlighted the critical moment the nation faces and the need for collective prayer “to heal the land” and “preserve our nation.” The Wards are the founders of the National Prayer Altar and INSIGHT Church in Tinley Park, Ill., and lead Total Living Network (TLN) Media as chairman & CEO and vice chair, respectively.
The night consisted of powerful worship led by Brannon Carnes and prayers led by Christian leaders, centering around the topics of humility, spiritual awakening, guidance, boldness among believers, and peace in the nation and throughout the world.
Many prominent voices led prayers: James E. Ward, Jr. of TLN Media and INSIGHT Church; Sharon Ward of TLN Media and INSIGHT Church; Dr. Linda Smith, executive vice president of NRB; Pelle Karlsson of American Christian Trust; Dr. Mark Batterson, lead pastor of National Community Church; Gary Hamrick, senior pastor of Cornerstone Chapel; Abraham Hernandez, CEO of National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference; Shane Winnings, CEO of Promise Keepers; Hanna C. Ward, director of content acquisition at TLN Media; and Phil Cappuccio, founder of Sound of the Trumpet Ministries.
Speakers prayed for unity in the church, effectiveness in Christian service, and a bold proclamation of the Gospel across the nation. They prayed for Israel, the hostages, and peace in the Middle East. They also prayed for God’s Kingdom to come, for God to establish the candidates He chooses in all elections, and for leaders to be wise and bold. They also offered prayer for the restoration of biblical femininity and masculinity, for spiritual awakening in schools, and for God’s light and glory to fall upon America.
Every year, the National Prayer Altar is a significant event for Christians seeking unity and spiritual renewal throughout America. Watch the recorded livestream at the following link: National Prayer Altar 2024.
