WFAX, a Washington, D.C.-area radio station carrying a broad offering of Christian talk and teaching programs, will end its more than 50-year run and change formats on July 1, 2022.

WFAX (1220 AM/100.7 FM) airs numerous NRB member programs in the nation’s sixth largest radio market, including In Touch, the John Ankerberg Show, Moody Presents and Moody Church Hour, Sekulow Live!, Truths That Transform, and more. Sandra Swann, Director of Marketing for WFAX, serves on the NRB Radio Committee.

Doris Newcomb, president of Newcomb Broadcasting Corporation, shared the following message:

“We are so grateful to our wonderful listeners who have supported WFAX ministries during more than 50 years of Christian radio broadcasting,” Newcomb wrote. “Without you, none of this would have been possible. You’ve helped WFAX ministries bring God’s Word to so many people in the Washington, DC area as well as worldwide at WFAX.com.”

She continued, “I have been privileged to lead WFAX for many years, but I have decided to retire. The format of WFAX will change as of July 1, 2022, so soon you won’t be able to listen anymore to your favorite programs on the station. However, you can keep in touch with your favorite ministries, and I’m sure they will appreciate it.”

WFAX, founded in 1948 by Lamar and Genevieve Newcomb, was the first Christian station to serve the Washington, D.C. metro area through Christian teaching and talk programs. Their daughter, Doris, has managed the station for over 30 years. WFAX is a member of the Virginia Association of Broadcasters.
