On August 21, NRB membership presented an exclusive webinar featuring Andrew Crapuchettes, founder and CEO of RedBalloon, a job board and talent connector pioneering innovative new hiring strategies that win in the marketplace. During the webinar, hosted by NRB membership director Melissa Sturgis, Crapuchettes shared his insights and advice for making successful, values-aligned hires at this exclusive, free webinar for NRB members.
Crapuchettes, a veteran in the labor market data industry, explained his founding of RedBalloon in 2021. He described it as a platform that unites businesses and job seekers who share a commitment to traditional American values, acting as an “answer to the divisive and toxic ‘cancel culture’ invading the American workplace.”
Crapuchettes discussed the common and significant cost and difficulty of hiring for businesses today. He highlighted a statistic: 75 percent of American employers have faced a labor-based lawsuit in the last five years.
“We believe that work is redeeming,” Crapuchettes said. “Work is a good thing. It is something that brings dignity to the person doing the work.”
The platform, RedBalloon.work, is the world’s largest pro-freedom job board. Crapuchettes stated that the platform now connects millions of job seekers seeking a merit-based environment “where their success is based on the value they bring to the employer, not some political correctness score.”
“A job, a vocation that someone has, is a defining feature of their life,” Crapuchettes said. “If you give people the ability to have a great job, and to be able to have meaningful work that builds dignity in their life, it really is a gift that you’re giving them.”
Crapuchettes analyzed the shifts in hiring practices over the past 50 years, noting that employers today increasingly value a candidate’s alignment with company mission and brand. Crapuchettes also offered advice on how Christian businesses and organizations can adapt to the hiring crisis.
“This is going to sound interesting, and maybe a little bit terrifying,” Crapuchettes said, “but you need to live your values out loud.”
He recommends defining your organization’s mission and values and incorporating them into your job postings.
“You want to attract the right job seekers, which means you need to not be afraid of what you believe as a business,” Crapuchettes said.
He provided examples of interview questions to ensure potential hires align with the organizational mission.
“Remember that the interview process is not designed to build a relationship,” Crapuchettes said. “This is an opportunity to find out if this person’s going to be a good fit for your organization. You can build a relationship with them later.”
RedBalloon offers a variety of services, including a job board, where job seekers can post their resumes for free. They also offer full-service recruitment assistance to connect organizations with potential candidates and a fee-based job posting opportunity for employers, resulting in significant cost savings for many organizations.
Crapuchettes provided many additional insights and helpful hiring tips. He also answered questions from NRB members in attendance, who have exclusive access to the full recording.
