Friday, January 21, 2022, will mark the 49th annual March for Life—and a return to the historic tradition of tens of thousands of pro-life advocates marching in person to the Supreme Court of the United States after the 2021 program was held virtually.
The theme of this year’s March is “Equality Begins in the Womb.”
“As our country continues to advance along the path to a more just society, we cannot ignore the discrimination that is taking place against vulnerable unborn babies who some view as ‘less than’ others,” said Jeanne F. Mancini, President of March for Life, in an online statement. “In order to create a more just society, we must recognize that equality begins in the womb.”
This year’s peaceful demonstration heralds what may well be an historic year for the pro-life movement. The Supreme Court on December 1, 2021, heard oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a potentially landmark abortion case with the possible outcome of overturning of Roe v. Wade. A decision is expected later in 2022.
In October 2021, veteran pro-life advocates Abby Johnson, Robyn Chambers, and Brad Mattes joined a live virtual panel hosted by NRB to discuss this and other up-and-coming issues for the movement.
“Pro-abortion advocates have good reason for the heartburn that they’re experiencing right now because it’s becoming increasingly clear that Roe v. Wade is living on borrowed time,” Mattes said in the conversation.
The pre-March rally will begin on Friday, January 21, at 12:00 p.m. on the National Mall, with the March taking place from 1:00-4:00. See full event details here.
