Gingrich Addresses Christian Leaders on Defeating the Left’s Transgender Agenda Toward Children

On Tuesday, November 1, Christian leaders heard from The Honorable Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, in an exclusive call hosted jointly by NRB and Summit Ministries. The webinar revealed brand-new data on Americans’ views toward the transgender agenda with insight for Christian leaders and communicators.

“Everywhere we look in politics and culture, we see attacks on human dignity, human design, and the integrity of the family,” said NRB President & CEO Troy A. Miller in opening remarks. “As citizens, we should not sit back when influential leaders attempt to confuse, coerce, or even normalize the mutilation of children in the service of debased and harmful gender ideology.”

Dr. Jeff Myers, president of Summit Ministries, framed the issue by stating, “this is an attack on truth.”

“Our [Summit Ministries] position on this is not a political one. It is one about the rising generation,” said Dr. Myers. “We firmly believe that these untested dangerous, permanent gender procedures that are being done on children before they can legally get a tattoo are harming them at a very point in their lives when they’re struggling the most.”

Myers summarized new data from McLaughlin & Associates revealing that “75 percent of American voters say that the trans movement has gone too far by encouraging children to change gender; 69 percent say that it is caused by social media and cultural influences, and 70 percent say the medical industry is motivated by financial gain rather than wanting to help struggling children.”

Gingrich expressed that the concept of radically changing human design through gender transformation is “historic”—and sadistic. Gingrich added further data from a recent America’s New Majority Project poll conducted by Scott Rasmussen, which revealed that most Americans view elements of the transgender agenda as “child abuse.”

“When you talk to the American people, they feel very strongly that children should not be indoctrinated by their teachers,” said Gingrich. “60 percent agree that if a teacher or school encourages a child to change their gender identity that it should be considered child abuse… 56 percent agree that conducting gender transition surgery on children is a form of child abuse.”

Gingrich encouraged concerned citizens to look past the political intimidation and see that on the whole, common sense still prevails on this issue. “Despite every effort of the left, there is a huge majority opposed to having this kind of transgenderism imposed on the country,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich recalled George Washington’s crossing of the icy Delaware River on Christmas night of 1776, displaying the strength of Washington’s revolutionary spirit against the odds. Speaker Gingrich encouraged listeners and leaders to take heart, stating, “There is no cause to be depressed. These are not hard times. Washington had hard times. Lincoln at Gettysburg had hard times.”

Miller, in closing remarks, reminded listeners that “we need to boldly speak up on this issue as Christian leaders, broadcasters, podcasters, and communicators.” Miller encouraged leaders to remain meaningfully involved with issues of Christian concern through “civic involvement and engagement in local, county, state, and federal government.”
