ARK Multicasting Announces Breakthrough in Content Delivery

The leading-edge Next Gen TV and broadcasting company ARK Multicasting has executed a successful proof of concept with commercial content delivery networks (CDN), demonstrating end-to-end content delivery within a consumer’s home.

The Dallas-based tech company says that this marks one of the largest breaks in the datacasting business model for the new broadcast television standard powered by ATSC 3.0.

“In next-generation broadcasting and content delivery, innovation continues to be the name of the game,” said NRB President & CEO Troy A. Miller. “We live in a time when the ability to deliver content to end users is evolving at breakneck speed. ARK is working on cutting-edge technology that will enable television broadcasters to be right in the heart of content delivery. This not only has the potential to provide new revenue streams to broadcasters but also new opportunities to deliver ministry content directly to consumers. NRB commends ARK Multicasting for the work they are doing in this area.”

ARK Multicasting has been involved with the Open Caching committee after joining the Streaming Video Technology Alliance (SVTA) in working to refine and deploy Over The Air CDN (OTA-CDN) services. Other members of the process include Lumen Technologies providing Upstream CDN (uCDN), Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) providing orchestration services, Broadpeak providing Downstream CDN (dCDN) infrastructure, and SiliconDust creating a Home CDN customer premise device (CPE) for ARK usage.

“This is a significant accomplishment for broadcasters everywhere and for network architecture across the United States,” said ARK Multicasting co-founder and CEO Joshua Weiss. “Gone are the days of the same popular data files clogging the pipes of the last mile ISPs (Internet Service Provider). This will be an important architectural enhancement to CDNs, ISPs, and content owners everywhere who have many users streaming video content live or on-demand and those looking to create a better user experience for gaming, firmware updates, cloud services, and so much more.”
