Andrew Brunet, a dedicated Christian communicator, embodies a career defined by unexpected turns, profound personal challenges, and an unshakeable commitment to broadcasting the Gospel. His journey from high school dropout to the head of marketing at WOTG TV Network, and host of an internationally syndicated show, serves as a powerful testament to finding one’s calling amidst severe adversity.
After being mentored by Chuck Bryant of WOTG Radio Network, Brunet was ignited with passion, causing him to realize: “I could get the Gospel out to the airwaves,” Brunet said. “Christ didn’t come for us just to sit and be silent, but for us to make a difference.”
His initial venture started as a weekly program, rapidly developing into a daily show, and eventually transforming into an international syndicated show that featured both southern Gospel and country music artists.
The trajectory of Brunet’s professional life was changed by a severe health crisis that began in 2017. During this time, he was admitted to the hospital seventeen different times due to recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) that became septic, causing his heart rate to drop dramatically. Eventually, he was diagnosed with Stage 5 kidney disease, necessitating dialysis.
He characterized 2017 as “my fight with God,” questioning why he faced these trials despite his dedication to ministry.
This crisis, however, changed his life. Brunet now works in homeless and nursing home ministries. “God was teaching me how to love on them,” he said.
Though the radio program temporarily ended in 2017, Brunet continuously heard God asking him to pick it back up. Despite his health challenges, he revived the Andrew Brunet Show as a podcast called “My Faith Chats.”
“Our goal is sharing impactful conversations with the body of Christ,” he said.
Rather than focusing solely on public figures, Brunet prioritizes interviewing “everyday people with testimonies, because people need to know that they’re still overcomers out there.”
The show has experienced remarkable growth to the point of a global audience. A distinctive feature of the show is Brunet’s readiness to pause the interview at any moment to pray for viewers who send in requests.
“There’s power in prayer,” he explains. “And if we don’t meet that person where they are, we can’t be Jesus to them.”
Brunet believes that modern technology is crucial for fulfilling the Great Commission: “Jesus gave in the Great Commission that the Gospel has to be preached to all nations before He returns. And this is the way to do it. Social media is the way to do it.”
Brunet’s podcast deliberately covers critical social issues that some American churches avoid, such as abortion, the sanctity of marriage, and politics, emphasizing that Christians must be informed.
“Not only do I believe that the conversation of faith is important, but I also believe that Christians need to be aware of what’s happening around the world and how their voice can be an impact,” he stated. “If I can just win one soul, I don’t care if one hundred thousand people ever watch this podcast.”
When offering advice to those called to start their own podcast, his counsel is direct: “First off, quit procrastinating and do it.” He shares his personal mantra for perseverance: “God doesn’t put a vision in your heart for you to stop doing what he started, which he will bring to completion.”
