THE APP WARS: WILL APPLE BOW OR WILL FREE SPEECH PREVAIL?
NRB PROJECT CATALOGS INFRINGEMENT OF RELIGIOUS SPEECH

Manassas, VA – The NRB John Milton Project for Religious Free Speech is cataloging the current assault on Apple Inc. for approving and offering a free app by Exodus International. The app provides news, podcasts, and social media opportunities to individuals and families impacted by homosexuality. Last year Apple approved, offered, and then pulled the Manhattan Declaration app in a deliberate act of censorship of the religious speech and thought held by mainstream evangelical Christians in America.

“Today, a well-publicized petition drive is underway to remove the Exodus International app so that people will not hear a message of hope and truth,” said NRB Sr. Vice President & General Counsel Craig Parshall. “Just like the Manhattan Declaration app, Exodus International’s message is a mainstream religious message, thoughtfully presented and protected by the First Amendment right to free religious speech and expression. The blatant attack on this message once again demonstrates the need for NRB’s John Milton Project for Religious Free Speech.”

"The big question now,” continued Parshall, “is whether the titans controlling our new media platforms will respect the free speech rights of Bible-believing Christians. It is a battle every bit as important as the one that swirled around the printing press hundreds of years ago."

NRB calls on Apple, which has done so much to enable and advance freedom of expression through the creative use of technology, to defend the First Amendment freedoms of all Americans. Click here to learn more about the John Milton Project for Religious Free Speech.
